October Series2009 October SeriesIn a new initiative, The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul, in cooperation with Presbyterian College of McGill University, presented a total of ten well-attended lectures to mark the 500th anniversary of John Calvin's birth. On Thursday evening, October 29, Professor Randall Zachman, Professor Randall Zachman, Professor of Reformation Studies at the University of Notre Dame, gave the W.L. Anderson Lecture at Presbyterian College. "Let us contemplate God in this most beautiful image: John Calvin on the Self-Manifestation of God." On Friday at the College, eight noted theologians. including out former minister, The Rev. Dr. Richard Topping, delivered papers on Calvin. Saturday morning in Kildonan Hall at the church, Professor Zachman relfected on "John Calvin on Teachable Teachers in the School of Christ," leavened with a hearty and joyous touch of hilarity. And during the Sunday service, Professor Zachman preached on "Hoping for the Day of Restoration."![]() Back to the home page 2007 October SeriesThe 2007 Series explored Faith and the Environment with Dr. Norman Wirzba, and native of Alberta and Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department, Georgetown College, Kenctucky. 2008 October SeriesWe considered the theme of Reconciliation and Forgiveness and welcomed The Rev. Dr. Gregory Jones, Dean of Duke Divinity School, as our guest speaker and preacher. Dr. Jones is well known as a lively and engaging speaker, and certainly lived up to advance billing.
