Pow Wow 2009On Saturday, July 11, members of A&P Neechewagon visited the "Echoes of a Proud Nation" Pow Wow in Kahnawake. We we were greeted by Joe Delaronde, a communications specialist with the Mohawk Tribal Council. Beside the St-Francis-Xavier Mission and shrine to Kateri Tekakwitha, he told us of our neighbour's history, culture and the current issues the community faces. The colourful and enchanting Grand Entrance opened the Pow Wow on Turtle Island. Rain failed to dampen spirits as the dance competitions continued under a protective tent. You can share the experience with us. (The movie will take a moment to load).
