Special Performances

Opera Extravaganza! : Sunday, March 4 at 4:00 p.m. Director of Music Dr. Jonathan Oldengarm joins with sopranos Stephanie Manias and Tracy Cantin in a gala programme of opera favourites, including the Prelude and Liebestod, from Tristan und Isolde (Wagner/Lemare), Polovtsian Dances (Borodin/Melnikova) and the Fantasia on themes from Bizet's Carmen (Lemare) on the church's IV/100 Casavant organ. Freewill donation requested, and a gala reception to benefit the music programme follows the performance.

Good Friday Choral Service: April, 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Choir of the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul joins with the Ensemble Caprice to present J. S. Bach's epic St. Matthew Passion. Jordan de Souza, direction. Freewill donation.

Organ Intermezzi: July 5 through August 30, 2012 at 12:15 p.m. Each Thursday in July and August from 12:15 to 1:00 pm, local and international organists put the church's mighty Casavant organ through its paces in programmes of lighter classics. Following each concert, audience members can meet the artist over a free glass of lemonade, served in the Memorial Tower. Admission is by freewill donation. The 2012 roster will be announced in March, 2012.

Benefit Concert for the Maison du Parc: Mozart Celebration!: November 25, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.
The Choir of the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Players' Association presented Mozart's Requiem, KV 626, with soloists Marie-Eve Munger, Daniel Taylor, Isaiah Bell and Sanford Sylvan. Jordan de Souza conducted, and Jonathan Oldengarm played organ. At the beginning of the concert, Munger and Oldengarm (soprano and organ) performed Mozart's motet Exsultate, jubilate, KV 165. An enthusiastic audience of eight hundred was on hand to enjoy wonderful music-making in aid of a good cause. 

CBC Christmas Sing-In: December 4, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. The 32nd annual CBC Sing-In features the choir in a festive Christmas programme accompanied by brass, percussion and organ, and include lots of carol singing by the audience. Listen to the Sing-In online by clicking here.

Carols by Candlelight: December 18, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. This traditional service of Lessons and Carols for Christmas takes place in the church late in the afternoon of the third Sunday in December. Choir members process into the darkened Sanctuary carrying candles, and join the congregation in joyous music. A CD recording of the 1998 event marking the Silver Jubilee of Carols by Candlelight, a perfect Christmas gift, is available at the Book Stall in the Narthex.
