In our Maundy Thursday service we recall the last supper in the upper room; and then go on to remember Gethsemane, where Jesus suffered the agony of his impending arrest and crucifixion. In dimmed lighting, we do this through choral music, the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper and the order of Tenebrae.

Our choir, together with Ensemble Caprice present J.S. Bach’s monumental motet “Jesu, meine Freude” in addition to Dieterich Buxtehude’s “Membra Jesu nostri,” a complete cycle of seven cantatas for Holy Week, each which addresses a different aspect of Jesus’s crucified body. The service will feature soloists from our choir.
Le Chœur de l’église St. Andrew and St. Paul et l’Ensemble Caprice interpréteront le majestueux motet Jesu meine Freude ainsi que Membra Jesu nostri de Dieterich Buxtehude; un cycle de sept cantates composé pour la semaine sainte. We celebrate the cultural diversity of our congregation during our Heritage Sunday worship service on May 7th, when more than two dozen flags from around the world will be presented. If you would like to participate with us in recognizing your heritage by carrying a flag, please contact Robert Bracewell at robert.bracewell@mcgill.ca or 514 488-3383. Also we invite members to contribute a cultural dish for the Taste of the Nations reception that will follow this service in Kildonan Hall. Please join us in worship at 11:00 am.
