In honour of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the Choir of the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul joins the musicians of Serenata St. John to present Bach’s Magnficat, BWV 243 under the direction of Jean-Sébastien Vallée, within a service of solemn vespers. The liturgy will be led by the Rev. Dr. Glenn Chestnutt, with the participation the Right Rev. Mary Irwin-Gibson (Anglican Bishop of Montreal); Rev. Eric Dyck (St. John’s Lutheran Church), and Père Pierre Dufour, c.s.c. (St. Joseph Oratory).
Under the ecumenical Reformation/Reconciliation banner (uniting Roman Catholics, Lutherans and Presbyterians), and within the international “500 Years Reformation” conference hosted by McGill University’s Faculty of Religious Studies, this promises to be an evening of great beauty and historic significance.
A freewill donation is requested.
