”Don’t Look Up” is the title of an apocalyptic comedy aired on Netflix in 2021. It tells the story of two astronomers who attempt to tell the world’s population that our planet is soon to be struck by a large comet, thus extinguishing all life. However, in an attempt to deny that this will happen, people are encouraged not to look up into the sky and see the comet’s tail as it hurtles ever closer. By contrast, in the Book of Genesis, God encourages Abram (who later becomes Abraham) to look up at the stars in the sky and see a future filled with hope and promise. Please join us this Second Sunday of Lent as we journey with God’s promises to Abram.
First Lesson: Genesis 15: 1-12, 17-18
