All are invited for a special “Lunch & Learn” Event in Kildonan Hall, on May 15, 2022 immediately following the service. Please join us for “Writing a New Story: LGBTQI2+ Inclusion and the Church” In 2021, The Presbyterian Church in Canada agreed to make changes to its theology and practice regarding marriage and ordination, creating more space for LGBTQI2+ people to participate in the life and ministry of the church. These decisions were a result of years of prayer, study and discussion. During this “Lunch and Learn” , we’ll hear from Carragh Erdhart, Program Coordinator, Sexuality and Inclusion with the National Office of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, about the opportunities that these changes create, and ways that the church can work towards meaningfully addressing barriers that LGBTQI2+ people face in the denomination. Carragh met our Young Adults Group and Senior Church School Class via Zoom last autumn, and we are looking forward to meeting her in person!
To reserve your spot for lunch, please contact Sharon at grammy.shani@icloud.com or phone 450-689-4379.

Event Details
The 43rd annual Christian Commemoration of the Shoah will be held here at A&P this year. The theme of this year is “You shall be holy…”, and this special Vesper service will bring together Jews, Christians and others to commemorate the six million Jews and one million other victims of the Holocaust, also known as the Shoah (“the annihilation” in Hebrew), during World War II.
Co-presided by Rev. Glenn Chestnutt and Rabbi Sherril Gilbert, the commemoration will include a testimony by Holocaust survivor Rachel Gropper. There will be also a candle lighting ceremony in remembrance of all the victims of the Shoah. Songs and music will be performed by a vocal Quartet (cantorial soloist Rona Nadler, Alexandra Asher, Kerry Bursey, and Dave Benson) and by Dr. Jonathan Oldengarm Director of Music and Organist.
All are invited to commemorate the Shoah with us in our sanctuary or online.
Click here for the Order of Service.
The CJDM has prepared materials which can be integrated into both in person or online worship, all of which are available on the website of the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism (http://www.oikoumene.ca/).
Yom Hashoah (“the Day of the Shoah”) was established in 1951 by the Knesset, the Parliament of Israel. In Montreal, the first Christian Commemoration of the Shoah took place at Christ Church Cathedral in 1979. Since then, different Christian churches have engaged with members of the Jewish community in a shared act of remembrance on the Sunday closest to Yom Hashoah. In 1999, the National Assembly officially recognized the observance of Yom Hashoah and invited Quebec citizens to share in the memories and mourning of the Jewish community and to ponder the lessons learned from the Shoah.

Update on our Ukrainian Project: Help our Church School Children and Youth Group “HELP THE UKRAINIAN REFUGEES”
Due to the incredible response and increasing lack of space at the Ukrainian Church, they are no longer collecting clothing items at this time. What they need are medical supplies, personal hygiene products, non-perishable food items and gift cards from Walmart, Grocery Stores and Pharmacies in smaller denominations ($10, $20, $25, $30) which will be divided amongst the refugees, anticipated to arrive with no more than a piece of luggage. We will continue to deliver your donations to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rosemount, for as long as the need for donations continues. If you would like to help out, please drop off your gift cards or other requests noted, at our church office to “Sharon’s Attention”, or contact her at churchschool@standrewstpaul.com.
We will be delivering all donations approximately once a week as the Ukrainian church organizes and makes space on a regular basis – the response to their appeal has been truly heartwarming. Please keep the Ukrainian people in your prayers.
An additional need is for VOLUNTEERS to help with the sorting of donations – if you would like to volunteer, please contact Sharon at 450-689-4379.
